Parent's Role

" I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

Confucius (551 BC-479). Chinese philosopher and teacher. Confucianism, the humanistic school of philosophy that he founded greatly influenced many asian society even up till today.

We understand how concerned you are about your child's education and how you will love to be involved in accompanying him on the road to success. This is why our Questation Math Program is designed with both the parents and students in mind. Learning does not stop at the end of each lesson, but rather, it is the beginning of a series of parents-initiated learning interactions between your child and you!

Questation lessons are designed to be concept building and focus on problem solving skills . You will play an important role in after- lesson revisions with your child in ensuring that he has adequate practice in his light and fun homework assignments.

These after-lessons practices are necessary for the child to reinforce his understanding of the concepts and allow him to accelerate from there.

Areas of attention:
We have all heard and read of the proven benefits of online learning, especially in the elimination of discrimination such as ability gaps, age, race, religion, gender or physical impairments and the list goes on. In addition, children have a natural enthusiasm in learning from computers because they feel it's exciting and fun. To fully realize these rich advantages, it is important that parents work with us in the following considerations. Your valuable input is important for your child to succeed!

  1. Choosing the correct standard and pace based on the placement tests.

In an online classroom, a 12-year old student in grade 6 who has already a weak foundation in Math can start on a Primary 4B or 5A class to correct any misconceptions he had already developed. There is no fear of jeering or teasing from his fellow classmates about him going backwards. Rather than working on a shaky background without the foundation to support higher learning, your child can start on a slower pace from a suitable level to build a solid foundation that will allow him to catch up. In addition, Questation Math program is of such high standard and quality that he will eventually exceed his peers!

Similarly, if your child is already ahead of his peers and exhibiting high competencies in Math, he can now forge confidently ahead into higher levels in our program.

  2. Create a conducive learning environment.

Questation recommends that parents place the computer in a quiet corner free from any distractions such as music, television, and activities of other family members. With a conducive environment and Questation's interesting and highly engaging lessons, the child will stay focus to his computer screen and learning fast in no time!

  3. Join our regularly scheduled Meet-Parent-Sessions.

Questation Math program has an extensive after-lesson support that includes detailed lesson reports where our teachers will record each child's progress and his strengths and weaknesses of each topic.

The teacher will then compile his observations for the month and schedules a Meet-Parent- Session to update you on your child's progress. This session serves as a valuable platform for interaction between the teacher and you. Together, we will form a strong partnership that allows your child to learn optimally at his pace and enjoys a highly personalized program.

If you have any questions for your child's teacher, feel free to consult him. He will be there to brief you on your child's progress and answer any doubts you have pertaining to the lesson.

We also like to seek your kind understanding and cooperation in leaving any questions to the end of the class so as to ensure a smooth-flowing lesson. Parents can direct any non-lesson specific questions to our friendly Parents-Care Officers who will help to answer your questions regarding curriculum, technical, pricing or other general enquiries.

Please kindly send us your comments through parents@questation.com so that we can constantly improve on our program. At Questation, we believe that learning is for life---and we practice what we preach!
